Dynamusée
History
Established in 1985, on the initiative of the Friends of Mons Museums and Mrs Josée Mambour, and linked by means of an agreement to the City of Mons, Dynamusée has grown from strength to strength. Between them, the Dynamusée team and regularly visiting schools have built up a palpable sense of enthusiasm and involvement, and developed healthy museum and exhibition visiting habits, encouraging youngsters to share in the joy of looking and discovering. All of the activities offered by the educational department are based around themed visits selected to be suitable for the age of the participants or in accordance with teachers' requests: they focus on specific topics and in most cases are followed by creative workshops. The topic then becomes tangible, enabling children, teenagers or adults to produce artistic work, to be creative and to try out new techniques, allowing their imagination to run free. It was in 1996 that idea arose to offer families courses during the school holidays (February, Easter and summer). For each week-long course, a cultural excursion is organised, enabling the children to discover other museums and exhibitions, in Belgium or abroad, depending on the age range of the group. The week's activities then revolve around a topic which stems from it, giving the children a lot of fun and fulfilment.
Group visits
We offer "visits with workshops" based around BAM's temporary exhibitions and collections, as well as topics such as self-portraits, landscapes, still life, abstract art and figurative art, etc. For a first introduction to art, a sensory journey is available for very young children. This is based on discovering the senses.
